The parade was a vibrant mix of bands, floats, clowns, and dancers and showcased the different indigenous cultures of the Sierra. There were also dance groups from other parts of South America, including Bolivia and Colombia. Seeing as there was a never-ending display of music, dancing, and colorful costumes, I was absolutely enthralled for the two hours we were there.
Unfortunately, my body had other plans and we had to leave before the parade ended. I was, however, able to get quite a bit of footage of the parade on my camera (before my battery died AND my memory card ran out of space--my camera was conspiring against me too).
I had a front row seat (being the edge of the sidewalk) so I was able get some great shots. In the video, you'll get to see firsthand some of the amazing indigenous culture here in Ecuador which I haven't been able to feature much of on my blog. Enjoy!
(Apologies for the streaks in the video. My lens needs to be cleaned.)
Can't get the vid to work...
ReplyDeleteOkay, I uploaded it again. Try it and now and see if it works.
ReplyDeleteNow, it says the video is private. haha sigh...
ReplyDeleteErr...okay I just got on YouTube and switched the settings. Didn't realize it was set to private. It should work now. :)
ReplyDeleteSo the kids were so cute at the beginning, hahahahahahaha. Also, the first half of the video seems like a parade of confusion...no one seems to know what's going on. But after that first float goes past around 7:17, the organization picks up a ton. I really liked the stepping women and the men who came behind on the flutes around 7:50. Also around 13:00 with the ladies on each side of the street with the colorful dresses doing the line dance and swirl moves. Actually, I loved everything after 13:00. That light toe shuffle sway that a lot of groups did is so relaxing to watch. Great video!
ReplyDelete^^^Everything Caleb said :D
ReplyDeleteThe vibrant swaying skirts are so hypnotizing.
And they have those jackrabbit springy thingies! Was not expecting that at all.
The fireworks looked amazing. We need some HD video for that and some of those women. :D
The streaks on the video aren't because of your camera. It's just whenever you take video of high contrast stuff like really bright things (streetlights) next to really dark things(the night sky).
Glad you guys liked it! Still kinda bummed I couldn't have stayed for the whole thing. It just kept getting more interesting and I could see some really cool dance troupes making their way towards us as we were leaving.
ReplyDelete@Deli Cappa: Thanks for the heads up about the camera!
